Panerai Pam 312

Panerai Luminor 1950 Marina 3 Days

New for 2009 is a Luminor 1950 Marina 3 Days Automatic, given the referrence code PAM 312. The Luminor Marina line of watches has always been a popular choice for Panerai buyers, in part because it is the closest to the watch the Italian Navy asked Paneria to develop in 1936. Hence, maybe more than any other Panerai, the Luminor Marina line, is the most historic of the Paneria designs.
It has a a 44mm case diameter using the 1950 case design. The watch displays hours, minutes, seconds and date on the face. The case features the distinctive clamp which protects the winding mechanism. This clamp was patented in Italy in 1956, and Panerai was able to obtain a U.S. Patent in 1960.

The case of the PAM 312 is rated as water resistant to 300 meters. While this is not unusual for a Panerai, previous manifartura\\\\\\\'s were rates as water resistant to 100 meters. The PAM 312 really regains it diving heritage.

Movement. The PAM 312 falls within Panerai\\\\\\\'s manifaturra line, which means it has a movement built by Panerai, as opposed to those which have a third party movement modified by Panerai. The movement in the LPAM 312 is also new for 2009, the Panerai P. 9000 calibre. It is a self winding movement with a longer than usual three day power reserve. The movement produces 28,800 vibrations per hour. The PAM 312 has a clear-case back that allows you to look at the watch mechanism in action.
